Raena is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She loves reading, writing, shopping and food. She enjoys singing, dancing and photography. More than anything else, she loves meeting and interacting with new people. When she is not focusing on her studies at Georgia State University, she is serving her campus and her community.

Raena is majoring in Journalism and minoring in Speech. Upon receiving her Bachelor’s degree, she will continue to work toward opening her own media company. She has already gotten started by opening and managing an online magazine titled “Everything Exclusive Magazine” which made its debut in August 2012. Aside from that, Raena is sharpening her skills in other areas of mass communication through different campus organizations. She previously served as the Associate Editor of the Opinions Column at “The Signal,” and as the Director of Public Relations for the Black Sophomore Society, Public Relations Chair for Black Freshman Network and Historian for NCNW. She was also part of the Marketing Committee for Relay For Life at GSU and was a member of several “street teams” as well.

Raena is affiliated with other campus organizations, too. She was once a member of the step team for Quiet Storm Steppers/Mentorship Program and she is now the Sergeant-at-Arms for the 2013-2014 academic year. She is also serving as the Vice President of the Alliance for Women in Media, GSU Affiliate. She was a volunteer for Spotlight Programs Board and a member of the Student Alumni Association.

Raena is involved in a few off-campus extra curricular activities as well. She is a proud Honor Graduate of Towers High School and continues to volunteer at her alma mater through the Towers High Alumni Association. She is the Executive Assistant at the Atlanta Film Festival and she wrapped up her four-year term as a volunteer cheerleading coach at Shamrock Middle School (renamed Druid Hills Middle School) in 2012. Not to mention, she won the title of Miss Central Georgia Black International 2013 and the title of Miss Atlanta United States 2014.

Even though her life is super busy, Raena makes it a point to make time for her loved ones. She is big on family and she “wouldn’t trade her friends for the world.”

The purpose of this blog is to provide an intimate look into Raena’s world from her point of view. She will touch on sensitive and not-so-sensitive topics. Those who are easily offended should proceed with caution.
